Le Viking is the Le Bandit sequel that drops Golden Squares altogether. Released by Hacksaw Gaming on 16 January 2025, it sends Smokey to the Norse world on a 6×5 grid with 15,625 ways to win, and replaces the Rainbow mechanic with a coin-collect system: Raid Spins with refilling lives, Magic Cauldron collectors and four free spin tiers that start with x2, x3, x5 or x10 Grid Multipliers. Volatility is 3/5 on Hacksaw's scale, RTP is 96.32% in the top version, and the max win is 10,000x the stake.

This information covers how Raid Spins and the Cauldron round work, what separates the four free spin tiers, which rounds you can buy, and how Le Viking compares with the original Le Bandit.
Le Viking characteristics
The headline numbers sit close to Le Bandit's. The win system and the whole bonus engine are what change.

Le Viking vs Le Bandit
If you know Le Bandit, the quickest way into Le Viking is to see what was swapped out.
| Le Bandit | Le Viking | |
|---|---|---|
| Win system | Cluster pays | 15,625 ways |
| Value engine | Golden Squares + Rainbow | Sticky Coins, Diamonds and Magic Cauldrons |
| Round length | Fixed spin counts (8 or 12) | Refilling lives, 3 to 5 |
| Free spin tiers | 3 | 4 |
| Highest coin type | Gold Coin, up to 500x | Diamond, 150x / 250x / 500x |
| Clover multipliers | x2 - x10, adjacent | Green (adjacent) and Gold (whole grid), x2 - x20 |
| Extra multipliers | None | Grid Multipliers on the scatter positions |
| Max win | 10,000x | 10,000x |
The practical difference is rhythm. Le Bandit pays when a Rainbow arrives; Le Viking's bonus rounds run until the lives run out, so the length of a round depends on how often non-blank symbols keep landing.
Le Viking summary
Le Viking is built in two layers that never mix. The base game is a ways-to-win slot: symbols pay left to right on adjacent reels, and none of the coin symbols appear there. All of the coin-and-multiplier action lives in separate modes: Raid Spins, triggered by six Coins, and four free spin rounds, triggered by three to six FS symbols.
Those modes share one idea: things that land stay. Coins, Diamonds and Clovers stick, lives refill whenever something useful lands, and the round only ends after a run of blank spins. A long round is therefore a good round, and everything in the bonus design, from Hearts that add lives to Grid Multipliers that sit under the scatter positions, pushes rounds to last longer or pay more per position.
Theme, design and sound
Smokey trades his Paris alley for a Viking raid, with the free spin tiers named after Norse myth: Berserk, Valkyrie, Ragnarök and Journey to Valhalla. The reels carry weapons and armour as premium symbols, and the bonus layer adds Magic Cauldrons and Hearts.

The interface follows Hacksaw's portrait-first layout. The useful design detail is the lives counter: during Raid Spins and free spins it is always visible, so you know exactly how close a round is to ending, which makes the mode easy to follow even without reading the rules.
RTP, volatility and max win
The top RTP is 96.32%. Casinos can run lower versions, and the active one is shown in the game's info screen, so check it before you play. Volatility is 3/5, the same as Le Bandit, and the base game wins on about 38% of spins, mostly with small amounts.

The max win is 10,000x the stake. In cash terms:
| Stake | Max win (10,000x) |
|---|---|
| €0.10 | €1,000 |
| €1.00 | €10,000 |
| €10.00 | €100,000 |
| €100.00 | €1,000,000 |
The cap is realistic mainly in Journey to Valhalla, where six x10 Grid Multipliers meet a coin pool with no Bronze or Silver.
How to play Le Viking
A base game spin is simple; the depth starts when Coins or FS symbols land.
- Set the stake from €0.10 to €100. Coin values, Diamond values and Buy costs are multiples of it.
- Spin. Three or more matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left pay across the 15,625 ways.
- Watch for six Coins. Six Coins of any kind at once start Raid Spins.
- Watch for FS symbols. Three to six at once start one of the four free spin tiers.
- Use the menu for the paytable at your stake, the active RTP and the Buy options where permitted.
Le Viking symbols and what they do
Regular symbols only appear in the base game; the special symbols only appear in Raid Spins and free spins. Coin values are multiples of the total stake.
| Symbol | Name | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() | Hammer, Axe, Sword, Helmet, Bow | Premium | Viking weapons and armour. Pay for 3 or more on adjacent reels from the left; the hammer is the top symbol. |
![]() | A, K, Q, J, 10 | Low | Card royals, the lowest-paying symbols. |
![]() | FS symbol | Special | 3, 4, 5 or 6 in one base game spin start Berserk, Valkyrie, Ragnarök or Journey to Valhalla. Each one becomes a Grid Multiplier position. |
![]() | Bronze Coin | Bonus | Sticky. Reveals 0.2x, 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 3x or 4x. |
![]() | Silver Coin | Bonus | Sticky. Reveals 5x, 10x, 15x or 20x. |
![]() | Gold Coin | Bonus | Sticky. Reveals 25x, 50x or 100x. |
![]() | Diamond | Bonus | Sticky. Reveals 150x, 250x or 500x. |
![]() | Green Clover | Bonus | Multiplies adjacent Coins, Diamonds and Cauldrons by x2, x3, x4, x5, x10 or x20. |
![]() | Gold Clover | Bonus | Applies the same multiplier range to every Coin and Diamond on the grid. |
![]() | Magic Cauldron | Free spins only | Fires all Grid Multipliers and Clovers, then collects every Coin, Diamond and earlier Cauldron. Each Cauldron collects once. Cannot land on a Grid Multiplier. |
![]() | Heart | Free spins only | Adds 1 to the maximum lives, up to 5. Stops appearing once lives are maxed. |
![]() | Dead symbol | Blank | Pays nothing and does not refill lives. |
Raid Spins
Six Coins of any kind landing together in the base game start Raid Spins, a re-spin mode with 3 refilling lives. Only Coins, Diamonds, Clovers and dead symbols appear. Every Coin, Diamond and Clover that lands sticks until the mode ends. Each re-spin uses a life; any Coin, Diamond or Clover refills lives to 3. Three blank spins in a row end the mode.
At the end, every Coin and Diamond reveals its value, then the Clovers apply their multipliers, then everything is added up. A Gold Clover is the symbol to watch: one landing late in a full grid multiplies everything at once.
Worked example (illustrative values). Raid Spins ends with eight Coins and one Gold Clover on the grid. The Coins reveal 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 2x, 4x, 5x, 10x and 25x, a total of 49.5x. The Gold Clover rolls x3, so the round pays 148.5x, or €148.50 at a €1 stake. The values are invented for the example, but the order is the game's: reveal, multiply, add.
Le Viking free spins
FS scatters landing together in the base game start a free spin round with 3 refilling lives. All four tiers share one engine and differ in the number and strength of the starting Grid Multipliers.
How the free spin engine works
At the start, each triggering FS position becomes a sticky Grid Multiplier. Coins, Diamonds and Clovers that land stick until a Cauldron collects them. When a Magic Cauldron lands, every Grid Multiplier and Clover fires on its area, and the Cauldron collects all Coins, Diamonds and earlier Cauldrons into itself. Any non-blank symbol refills lives; a Heart raises the maximum by 1, up to 5. When the lives run out, remaining Coins and Diamonds reveal, multipliers apply once more, and everything is added up.
Berserk (3 FS)
Three Grid Multipliers at x2. The entry tier, and the one most rounds will be.
Valkyrie (4 FS)
Four Grid Multipliers at x3. Same rules, a noticeably stronger start.
Ragnarök (5 FS)
Five Grid Multipliers at x5. A Gold Coin landing on one of those cells is already worth up to 500x.
Journey to Valhalla (6 FS)
Six Grid Multipliers at x10, and no Bronze or Silver Coins, so every Coin starts at 25x. A single 500x Diamond sitting on an x10 cell is 5,000x before any Clover touches it, which is why this tier is the route to 10,000x.
| Round | Trigger | Grid Multipliers at start | Special rule | Buyable |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Berserk | 3 FS | 3 × x2 | Base version | Yes, 100x |
| Valkyrie | 4 FS | 4 × x3 | Stronger start | No |
| Ragnarök | 5 FS | 5 × x5 | Stronger start | Yes, 200x |
| Journey to Valhalla | 6 FS | 6 × x10 | No Bronze or Silver Coins | No |
Can you buy the bonus in Le Viking?
Yes, where the jurisdiction allows it. The menu has four options, and two of the four free spin tiers are not on it.
| Option | Cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| BonusHunt FeatureSpins™ | 3x per spin | Each spin is 5 times more likely to trigger a bonus |
| Raider FeatureSpins | 30x | Raid Spins with 3 refilling lives and sticky Coins |
| Berserk | 100x | Free spins with 3 Grid Multipliers at x2 |
| Ragnarök | 200x | Free spins with 5 Grid Multipliers at x5 |
Valkyrie and Journey to Valhalla only come from natural triggers. Ragnarök at 200x is the strongest round you can buy; at a €1 stake that is €200 per attempt.
Le Viking demo vs real money
Hacksaw's own Le Viking page has a "Try it" button that loads the game with virtual credits, and many casinos host the same demo. The rules are identical; the balance is not real.
| Demo | Real money | |
|---|---|---|
| Balance | Virtual credits | Your deposited funds |
| Account | Not needed on the provider page | Casino account and verification |
| Winnings | Cannot be withdrawn | Withdrawable under casino terms |
| Best use | Learning lives, Cauldrons and Grid Multipliers | Playing with a set budget |
Le Viking on mobile
Le Viking runs in mobile browsers on iOS and Android with no download, in Hacksaw's portrait-first layout. The lives counter and Grid Multiplier cells stay readable at phone size, which matters in a game where those two things decide how a round goes.
How to approach a Le Viking session
Le Viking spreads its value across several modes, so planning around them helps more than any betting system.
- Check the RTP first. 96.32% is the top version; the info screen shows what your casino runs.
- Budget for the bonus tiers. The base game hits often but pays small amounts; most of the value is in Raid Spins and free spins.
- Price the buys honestly. Raider FeatureSpins at 30x is the cheapest way to see the coin engine; Ragnarök at 200x needs a much deeper balance.
- Do not expect the top tiers from a buy. Valkyrie and Journey to Valhalla cannot be bought.
Every spin is random, and no staking plan changes the RTP.
Pros and cons
Le Viking's strengths come from how readable its bonus engine is.
- Visible progress - lives, sticky coins and fixed multiplier cells show how a round is building.
- Four distinct tiers - each tier changes the starting multipliers, not just the name.
- Cheap entry to the feature - Raid Spins can be bought for 30x.
The weaknesses come from the same design.
- Plain base game - no coin symbols outside the bonus modes.
- Top tiers not buyable - Valkyrie and Journey to Valhalla are natural-trigger only.
- 10,000x ceiling - lower than most later "Le" games.
Who Le Viking suits
Le Viking suits players who prefer a collect-and-multiply bonus with visible progress over Le Bandit's wait for a Rainbow. Players who want the original cluster-pays rhythm should stay with Le Bandit, and those who want a higher ceiling should look at Le Pharaoh (15,000x) or Le Cowboy (25,000x).
